He handles children’s SSI claims, where school records carry the case, and the overpayment notices that arrive years after a benefit started. He also takes the few cases a year the clinic files in federal court.

How Jasper came to this work
Jasper’s mother was a special education teacher in Kanawha County, and Jasper learned early how much of a child’s life is written down in school records. It’s why he starts every children’s claim with the teacher.
He made the clinic’s video on denial letters because the same three questions came up on every first call.
